There was never a dull moment at the office Wednesday. The paper shredder broke, and then some how started working again, someone got fired, and I'm copying 1,000 flyers for an event going on here at Lincoln Square. The day started out fine, when I needed to shred a lease for Wade, I had 1 page left to go, and the shredder stopped working! So i ripped the last page up and moved on. One of our tenants asked us to print these flyers for the Ready Set Grow event going on this weekend. So in between research of the scrolling sign we are looking to put in, I was switching paper in and out of the copier to get the 1,000 copies made.
I then get the news. Wade had noticed one our new people we just hired wasn't doing their job. During employee orientation Wade makes it really clear to all night employees that, since they are unsupervised, they get no warning about not working, that is their warning, and he can't have people not working when they are required to. But, after reviewing the security tapes he saw that the person had the lights out for 3 and half hours in the facility and this person was NO WHERE to be found. Obviously this doesn't look very good, and Wade had a few questions for them. I just happened to be in the office when he talked to this person. After questioning them and coming to a reasonable decision, Wade had to let this person go.
This was a good thing to witness, although unfortunate. Wade had told me he had never witnessed someone get fired untill he took his position here at Lincoln Square. So being able to see that and get a little insight in it now, is a cool, although it sucks, thing to see. It also was very frustrating to here the lack of what this person was doing because I feel like I had a tiny part in helping getting this person their job, and I feel like they not only let Wade down, but the company and everyone.
