Today I arrived at my placement really early because a woman was coming to appraise a coin collection belonging to a client who had died. Kent is planning to send the collection along with several other items to a historical society sometime soon but first it is important that we know the value of the items. Kent said that they had gotten the items appraised once before a few years ago but he wanted another opinion with a more up to date appraisal. I was assigned the job of becoming familiar with the old appraisal and comparing it to the new one. Kent wanted me to sit in the room while the woman appraised the coins just to be sure she didn't steal any. I got to the office around 8:30 and was SUPER tired... I almost fell asleep reading those boring email files! Finally I decided to ask Sarah if there was anything else I could do that would keep me more occupied. She mentioned that the supply closet needed to be cleaned out and reorganized and I jumped at the opportunity... after about 10 minutes I very much regretted that decision. There was all types of decade-old supplies and folders in the closet that needed to be thrown away. It took me about two hours to go through everything and throw out all the old stuff and then reorganize the shelves but it looked A LOT better afterwards. Sarah seemed very pleased and I liked the fact that I could actually see the progress I had made. I felt very accomplished :)
