-The difference between a Health Care Technician (HCT) and Nurse (RN) is that Nurse's have more schooling. A Health Care Technician's job is to help patients to the bathroom, order their food, help them to eat and clean them up. Versus a Nurse whose job is to ultimately carry out the orders of doctors which can include administering medication, treating patient, and working with medical equiptment. For every patient admitted at Carle Hospital a HCT, RN, and Doctor is assigned. This information, along with the "plan of care" is often present on a dry erase board in front of the patient's bed.
