NEW VOCAB: diverticulosis-a condition in which pouch-like bulges or packets develop along the digestive tract and may become inflamed or infected plant sterol-substance that helps block absorption of cholesterol in body On Wednesday of this week, I worked on projects at home instead of going to my internship. My mom worked from 2PM-11PM that day, and I share a car with her. Since I needed the car that evening, I had to be home to give her a ride to work at 2. I actually enjoyed working from home for a change (F). One thing I got to do at home was watch a clip from Good Morning America that my mom had taped for me that featured chef Jamie Oliver-(I couldn't do this at Strawberry Fields because there is no TV there!) Jamie Oliver is a huge advocate for bringing healthier foods to school cafeterias, and he demonstrated a recipe for grilled chicken pitas with homemade salsa. I thought it was pretty funny because he had people in the crowd trying to cook with him, and it got pretty chaotic! But by having people cook, he demonstrated how important it is to cook for yourself-it is the only way you will get experience and get better at cooking! (A). After I finished watching this, I worked on 2 recipes the remainder of the afternoon. First, I continued to work on a project Susan has assigned to me: She is writing an article about breakfast importance for an athletic magazine that is due at the end of the month, and she has me doing research about it to help her write her article (D). In addition to this project, I also worked on something else. My dad has recently been diagnosed with high cholesterol, so I did some research about foods that lower bad cholesterol and raise good cholesterol. Then, I put together a little "handout" for him and printed it out to help give him some advice. Overall, a productive (though more laid-back) afternoon of internship!
