4/4/11-4/6/11
This week I got to do lots of filling prescriptions. Erica also shifted me around from working at the counter to the register and various small jobs when technicians would leave for lunch. I like being able to do lots of work to help out. On Wednesday, I shadowed Amy, one of the technicians. She showed me how stocks and the ordering of medications work. After giving me a brief overview of things, she let me place the orders for the drugs. I started with the drugs that we needed for patients who we owed pills for. Then I ordered the drugs that we had run out of, but weren't necessarily needed immediately. Last, I got to scan empty bottles, which was amusing because I got to use the scanner gun which is always fun. In the end, the total order added up to over $13,000! Its ridiculous how much drugs cost.
