Second Day at Strawberry Fields=SUCCESS :)

NEW VOCAB: tamari-a Japanese variety of soy sauce
RDA-recommended daily allowance
Day 2 of my internship was great-I am already learning so much about nutrition! When I first arrived today, Susan (my sponsor) told me that a woman who is a body builder had just come in to see her, and she wished I could've been there to meet her (D). I felt disappointed to have missed her (F), but maybe I will have another opportunity later. The woman had brought in her food logs for Susan to evaluate, because she wanted to lose weight. Susan assigned me the task of entering her food logs into an online program called myfitnesspal.com (D). I found this website fascinating: you enter info like height, weight, age, fitness goals, and activity level, and it tells you the amount of calories needed per day to reach your goals and gives the recommended breakdown of nutrients (D). By looking at the food logs I entered, Susan was able to examine the info and see the areas of the body builder's diet that needed to be adjusted (D). I realized after seeing the structured meals and snacks that this person ate every day that eating properly to reach health goals takes a lot of dedication and focus (A). I also understand more now that losing, maintaining, and gaining weight is definitely a science (A)!!
The remainder of my afternoon, I researched healthy recipes for George Foreman grills for my first project: compiling a cookbook of 15-20 simple, healthy recipes for Foreman grills (D). I found SO MANY yummy recipes that I can't wait to try! So far, my experience has been fantastic at Strawberry Fields. However, it still feels so new and different for me to be in a office setting instead of a classroom (F). I plan to get myself super organized this weekend so I can be more efficient while I am at my internship. :)
