First Day!

Today was my first day at Follmer Law Offices. I was somewhat nervous at first but once I began I relaxed a lot. When I first arrived Mr. Follmer was in a meeting with a client so I pretty much just chilled for a few minutes until he was done and spoke with his assistant, Sara.
When he was done with his meeting I went into his office with Sara and we sat down to talk a little bit about the types of things I would be doing throughout the semester. They had already typed out a to-do list for me and Kent (Mr. Follmer) explained to me the three main things that he wanted to make sure I understood;
1) That this was purely a learner experience and that I should not be feeling any pressure or stress whatsoever.
2) That I would no doubt have plenty of questions but I should group them together and wait to ask several at a time rather than going to him every few minutes.
3) And that my responsibility is to work hard in order to increase his business' efficiency, because no matter what you go into, it is all about increasing efficiency.
My first to-do list was composed of mostly jobs involving summarization and organization of cases, particularly one that has been ongoing for years now and is close to being resolved. Since Follmer Law Offices has been in business quite awhile, there is a lot of outdated file organization systems. One of my main jobs this semester is going to be reorganization of these files and file rooms.
When Mrs. Sherrick came to meet with us at 2 Kent told us about an opportunity for me to go to court with him in early February that had to do with the case that I was assigned to summarize. I am very excited for this because I have never been in a court room before and I think it will be very interesting to see the entire process and how it plays out, plus I get to miss school! :)
So far I am very excited to begin my internship and look forward to collaborating with the people at my placement!
